The end of the day at the dump is scavenging time. The leftover food has already been fought over by other humans and animals during the day. Now even vultures and hungry dogs aren't interested in the amalgam of steaming debris that stretches as far as the eye can see. It's the last hope for other scavengers, men who anxiously search the still smoldering embers for pieces of metal and glass that survived the fire.
