In this project, I highlight people whose appearance deviates from the norm and who have suffered prejudice due to these deviations. We are all judged for how we look where gender, ethnicity, age, anomalies or disabilities create inequality. With this project, I want to show the diversity of appearances that exist and make visible discrimination linked to appearance. Different skin color, peculiarities, genetic diseases, old age and external bodily changes are what represent the human being as a whole. In addition to this, I have also met people who have suffered from diseases that have changed their bodies both on the inside and the outside. They explain how their views of their bodies' appearances have changed since they became sick. The scars become a constant reminder that the body can suffer from serious illnesses or suddenly stop functioning. It lives its own life. With their backgrounds, the pursuit of eternal youth and outward perfection seems meaningless. The body becomes a tool and the suit that we must wear throughout life. Thus, the importance does not depend on whether the suit becomes wrinkled over time, but that it is reasonably complete and functional.
