Visiting Pompeii, the city frozen in time for nearly 2000 years, has always been high on my bucket list. The massive grounds of ancient antiquity, where a constant stream of discoveries keep surprising and delighting archeologists and tourists alike. As I stood underneath a large arc in the central square, it was hard not to fixate on the guardian statue of the city, still defiantly facing the volcano that brought the end.
